Googled Pictures
Recently, Forbes magazine named Google the "Best Place to Work in America." If you haven't yet figured out why, we offer up a bit of evidence with an installment of the "Moving Pictures" series that features a Google engineer (it airs thursday, the 22nd, at 11pm).
Ian Langworth agreed to be our photo-taker. Given Google's reputation as a walled-off company, it was nice that Ian, and his PR helpers, got back right away and agreed to do the story. Given Google's reputation as a factory where engineers barely see the light of day, the fact that Ian turned over a whopping 104 photographs was above and beyond the call of duty.
I've been to Google many times , but to spend time with Ian as he enthusiastically showed off his pictures gave me a look at the company, and its employees, I haven't seen before .. the martini party is a highlight.
We hope you enjoy it, on TV and here on the web...maybe it'll have you thinking of Google in a slightly different light.

The Next Big Thing?
After years of covering start-ups (and young CEOs like Dave Friedberg), the station's "Moving Pictures" project (seen at 11pm through the month of February) gave us a chance to really see the story from the eyes of our protagonist.
Instead of asking a dozen questions about what it is that makes Dave tick, we were able to see it and the conversation that followed was easy. Dave is, like all of the Moving Pictures subjects, a good sport.
This is someone who is at work close to 20 hours a day, but chose to take the time to carry a digital camera and snap dozens of pictures throughout his day. He even got a lot of his friends and co-workers to shoot pictures of him.
That makes this a fairly unique story -- one you see not just through the eyes of our broadcast camera, but one you see through the eyes (and lens) of those who know our subject best. You can find Dave's story at nbc11.com/movingpictures. I hope you enjoy it.
